I’ve been looking forward to this for awhile now and GAGI is finally here! As part of April’s Unblurred on Penn Ave. in Bloomfield/Friendship this Friday the 2nd (which should be a gorgeous evening weather-wise, not to mention my b-day as well…double awesome), the inaugural Geek Arts / Green Innovators festival kicks off. Billed as Pittsburgh’s first Eco-Art-Technology Festival, GAGI was “created as a platform to showcase current, unique and innovative projects, products and art created by the green and technoloy industries.”
And not only will there be an overload of art and tech, but there is plenty of after-GAGI / after-Unblurred festivities happening as well. From open artists studios, to the Brillobox and more there will plenty to do Friday night.
You can check out the official GAGI blog here, and the entire day’s schedule of events here.
And for the entire Unblurred schedule for Friday, click here.
Hope to see you all there! Continue reading →
As I sit an watch the snow starting to come down, I don’t know if I’ll make it to this tonight. But if I brave the mounting snowfall, and I most likely will, this is where I’m headed. Part of the monthly Unblurred event on Penn ave, the Unstilled exhibition opens tonight at The Schmutz Lodge, and will close at the next Unblurred event in March. So if you also happen to brave the snow tonight, head just a block off Penn to check out this show.
“The Distillery 4 Program, in collaboration with the Schmutz Lodge, presents the work of eight artists, uniting to overcome the loss of their residency studio. Work will be on display at the Schmutz Lodge, located at 5405 Broad Street in Garfield.
Unstill’d is a month-long project in which the artists were given a space and asked to respond to their current dislocation. The Schmutz Lodge, a performance and visual arts spectacle, opened their doors to the Distillery Program, and their building has served as both studio and exhibition space for the Distillery artists. Unstill’d includes site-specific installations and is curated by Distillery alumnus, Rose Clancy.”
Unstill’d represents the following artists:
