The one and only KISS circus tent plopped down again at Mellon Arena last night. It was my second KISS show, the first being the Farewell Tour almost 10 years ago. I still can’t figure out where they get all that confetti from. From their eponymous debut album to the just-released Sonic Boom album (which I honestly can’t believe is #2 on the Billboard charts), they played a great mix of new and old. And while Paul Stanley usually likes to talk in between songs, I (along with at least half the crowd, judging from the booing) really didn’t appreciate the unsolicited Wal-Mart advertising. You see, Wal-Mart is the exclusive distributor for the new album. And while it’s just a fact of life that KISS is a marketing machine, I really don’t want to hear about Wal-Mart in the middle of a show. But nonetheless, great show, great music and a great time!
