Finally!!! I’ve been waiting for this film to screen in PGH since it premiered at SXSW in March. Directed by Gary Hustwit (who also gave us the cult hit “Helvetica”), Objectified is a must see film for anyone in the product design or related fields. If you are an industrial designer you have a duty to see this film. It is about you! The documentary is a Who’s Who of industrial design superstars ranging from Jonathon Ive to Karim Rashid to IDEO’s Tim Brown.

From the Objectified website: “Objectified is a feature-length documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. It’s a look at the creativity at work behind everything from toothbrushes to tech gadgets. It’s about the designers who re-examine, re-evaluate and re-invent our manufactured environment on a daily basis. It’s about personal expression, identity, consumerism, and sustainability.”

Objectified will be showing at The Harris Theater downtown from Sunday 7/19 through Thursday 7/23. Sunday’s screening are at 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm. All other screenings start at 7:30 pm with an additional 5:30 pm show on Thursday. On July 23 tix will only be $5 for AIGA and IDSA members, with a reception following the 7:30 film at Mark’s Grille.
